What are the usages of brown fused alumina in sandblasting?

Brown fused alumina (BFA) is a high-hardness, tough, and eco-friendly blasting abrasive with sharp angular grains and excellent self-sharpening performance. It serves multiple core purposes in sandblasting applications:
First, industrial surface cleaning and rust removal. It efficiently eliminates rust, oxide scales, welding spatter, old paint coatings, and surface contaminants from carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum alloy, copper and other metal workpieces. It thoroughly cleans base materials without excessive substrate abrasion, greatly improving the adhesion of subsequent spraying, plating and anti-corrosion coatings.

Second, precision surface finishing and matting. It creates uniform, consistent matte textures on metal profiles, hardware parts, glass, ceramics and plastic surfaces. It is widely used for beautifying and homogenizing the surface gloss of aluminum profiles, copper accessories and precision molds.

Third, deburring and edge chamfering. Its strong cutting power quickly removes burrs and sharp edges left by mechanical processing, smoothing workpiece edges to avoid assembly damage and improve product precision.
Fourth, surface strengthening and stress relief. Sandblasting with brown fused alumina compacts metal surfaces, eliminates internal residual stress, and enhances the wear resistance and fatigue resistance of mechanical parts and aerospace components.

Fifth, recyclable eco-friendly blasting treatment. Free of free silica and toxic substances, it meets global environmental standards. With outstanding toughness and self-sharpening properties, it can be recycled 5–10 times, lowering overall blasting costs for industrial manufacturing and maintenance projects.
